Making indoor areas safer

Did you know there is a link between the COlevels in a room, and the likelihood of COVID-19 being spread amongst the occupants in that room?

This connection could lead to a much-reduced risk of spreading COVID-19 in all communal indoor areas, which will help keep the occupants safer and possibly create the necessary conditions to allow the resumption of certain activities.

Increased concentrations of  CO2  in an enclosed space indicate insufficient supplies of fresh air due to either inadequate air changes and/or overpopulation of the room.

Numerous scientific studies have proven that aerosols (small droplets) are a major route of transmission of viruses such as COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2. Active virus particles can float in the air longer and further than originally thought and pose a potential danger.

CO2 is a good indicator of the functionality of the ventilation systems and it had been shown that with a high air exchange, both low CO2 concentrations and low aerosol concentrations can be achieved.

The lower the aerosol concentration, the lower the dose that a person in the room inhales and the lower the risk of infection.

This is particularly applicable in communal areas where people are regularly in close proximity to each other for extended periods of time.

The German government is investing €500m in purchasing CO2  monitors and improving ventilation systems in public buildings to help stop the spread of coronavirus. Something we will be suggesting our own government considers.

A BBC news article that highlights the importance the German Government are attaching to air quality, and the role C02 detectors have in achieving that goal, can be found on the link below.

To assist in the fight against COVID-19 we have released the CA1510 portable indoor air quality meter which has proved particularly popular in mainland Europe and is ideal for all communal areas, particularly offices and workplaces.

It’s simple to use, measures and records CO2 , relative humidity and temperature, and determines the air quality in rooms on the basis of the CO2 concentration, or on all three measured physical quantities.

Another advantage of the CA1510 is that it monitors and logs all results with a time and date stamp for future reference.

We have produced a detailed PDF leaflet highlighting the importance of Air Quality with regards to the transmission of COVID-19 and the features and benefits of the CA1510 which you can download below, as well as a detailed product brochure.
